Clarion’s Armstrong chooses Old Dominion
Clarion High School’s T.J. Armstrong announced his verbal commitment to Old Dominion University Monday.
Armstrong is a 6-2, 205 pound outside linebacker that garnered a two-star ranking from Scout.com and Rivals.com. He also had offers from Buffalo, Massachusetts and Temple.
Although Old Dominion currently plays in the Colonial Athletic Association in the CAA, it is moving to FBS in 2013. It will play two seasons as an independent before joining Conference USA in 2015.
Armstrong, who also gained over 1,000 yards as a running back last season, led Clarion to an 8-5 season and the District 9 championship game. He was named to the Class A All-State team after his 123 tackle season.
Stockett verbals to Akron
McKeesport quarterback Eddie Stockett verbally committed to Akron, choosing the Zips over Rutgers, who also offered. Stockett is a 6-4, 210 pounder who was ranked as a two-star recruit by Scout.com and a three-star recruit by Rivals.com. He was the 93rd overall quarterback in the country according to Scout.
Stockett threw for over 1,773 yards last year in helping lead McKeesport to a 6-4 record.
Howard picks Pitt
Clairton defensive back Titus Howard will be headed to Pitt. The two-star Rivals and three-star Scout ranked prospect is listed as a safety by most scouting services and that’s what he was recruited for by Pitt.
Howard also had offers from Toledo, Youngstown St., Connecticut and Arkansas State. He helped lead Clairton to a 16-0 season and its third straight Class A state title.
