Downingtown (Pa.) East wide receiver Jay Harris verbally committed to Michigan State.
Harris, a 5-10, 180 pounder, is ranked as the No. 109 receiver in the nation by Scout.com and is tabbed as a three-star prospect by Scout. He was not ranked by Rivals. Harris’ other solid offers were from Temple and Old Dominion. He did, however, have interest from a host of programs such as UConn, Maryland, Rutgers, Pitt and Penn State.
The future Spartan helped lead Downingtown East to a 9-3 record and the District 1 quarterfinals last season. He had 53 catches for over 700 yards and 11 touchdowns in his junior season.
Harris becomes the 10th recruit in 2013 class so far for the Spartans and joins fellow Pennsylvania product Damion Terry of Erie Cathedral Prep. At this point Michigan State’s class is ranked No. 37 in the nation by Rivals (eighth in the Big 10) and 27 (seventh in the Big 10) by Scout.
